Influences

We had a few small influences but our main influence for our Hansel and Gretel story was the Makey Makey + Ableton Live Interactive Dance Floor piece (Youtube 2013). This interactive production shows how they have attached sensors to a dance floor to trigger certain sounds and music from a computer. Within this production they have also used the MaKey MaKey as we did in the same sort of way, however this production was much more complicated and had many more sensors than ours. They used the interactive floor within the production at a New Years Eve party and the guests at the party would be stepping on the sensors all night to create the different sounds and music. I believe this is a really good idea because it gave the guests something to be interested in and the interactive floor looked really fun. This gave us an initial idea because we really liked how they stepped on a sensor to create a sound. I believed that it was very different as i have never seen anything like that before so we then thought of ideas how we could take this interactive floor for inspiration but make it our own and that is how we came up with the sensor story pathway. We believed our idea was abstract because we researched and hadn’t seen anyone do an interactive story before we also then decided that we could use the sensors to also trigger the projections and combine the two to make the piece even more digital.
